Adam Dant

Adam Dant, born in Cambridge in 1967, studied in Liverpool, Baroda (India) and at the Royal College of Art in London from 1985 to 1991. He has since been living and working in London. While at the Royal College, he studied printed techniques and his drawing style echoes the narrative and informative purpose of copper engravings in literature and journalism that prevailed prior to the advent of photography. Dant’s style is often associated with the work of William Hogarth, one of most important English artists in the 18th century and precursor of the modern caricature. Adam Dant has received several awards, including the important Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2002. He is represented in numerous collections and museums.
