«Observatorium – against the flow» represents the first major solo exhibition outside Italy of works by Paolo Parisi (born in 1965 in Catania, lives and works in Florence). His artistic output comprises a variety of materials and media, ranging from conventional canvas paintings to sculptural structures, from stained glass to murals, from the use of video and audio to coloured lighting. Through his sensuous pictures and structures, he focuses on nature in all her processes of transformation. This publication, the first comprehensive retrospective of his oeuvre (and the first in German), offers an overview of all his works thus far and features depictions of some of them. The commentary is by Giovanni Iovane (Academy of Brera, Milan) and Sergio Risaliti (Quarter, Florence); the publisher is Helmut Friedel (Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau, Munich).
